President

Heather is the proud mom of Joey, who experienced his Kindergarten year at Nebinger during Covid-era virtual learning. Deeply impressed by the dedication of the teachers and faculty during that tumultuous time, Heather was inspired to support the school community in every way she could. She has enjoyed being an active volunteer at Nebinger over the years and is now honored to serve as PTA President.

A Philadelphia native with a background in restaurant management and event planning, Heather looks forward to lending her experience to her role. When she's not working, she spends most of her free time shuttling Joey around to his various extracurricular activities; however, she also enjoys reading, cooking, and cheering on the Phillies during baseball season.

Vice President of Middle School

Michal Strunk moved to the US with her family in 1987. She grew up with her brothers as a sheltered latchkey kid, eating food that other kids scrunched their noses at, attending public school in her typical Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood. She was a band kid and belonged to every free morning, after school, and summer program within walking distance of her home. She loves volunteering to support the people and programs that make those experiences possible. She loves the compassionate and  empowering culture of Nebinger and its surrounding community. She loves living in South Philly. Michal is a proud mom of Hannah, who looks like a regular girl but is, in fact, a ball of sunshine incarnate.

Treasurer

Beth Uhlhorn serves in the role of Treasurer for the Nebinger PTA. Beth is the mom of Riley Swedish, a soon-to-be third grader. She’s lived in Queen Village since 2011, when she and her husband, Ian Swedish, moved to Philly from Michigan. They arrived for a temporary work assignment and, nearly 15 years later, have fallen in love with both the city and the neighborhood, though maybe not all the sports teams quite yet. Beth and Ian are active foster parents and have taken in several young children, including Riley, whom they were lucky to adopt.

In her work life, Beth works in Sustainability for Dow, a chemical company. She leads the company’s global teams focused on product safety and environmental sustainability and leads the Safer Materials area for the Company. Beth has worked in sustainability for Dow for the past ten years. Prior to this, she held several finance positions throughout the Company, so don’t worry – she knows her way around a budget. She’s excited to play with spreadsheets and pay the bills and is looking forward to getting to know other parents and the school better.

Secretary

Angelique Linares moved into the Bella Vista area when her daughter was just two years old, and now she’s an incredible third grader here at Nebinger. Born in Miami, Florida and raised in both there and Union County, New Jersey, she has lived all over the east coast and chose Philly as her home. It was an easy choice given that Philly is rich with culture and community, both of which were most important.  With her two Master’s degrees, one on Maritime Systems and another in Engineering Management and being a Naval Architect/Program Manager by day, she provides quite a unique perspective to this role. She is eager to be more involved and support the school with her efforts and time just as her mother did when she was growing up.  Aside from that, she loves to run, travel, and is wine educated, so if you need pairing advice, let her know!
